Bayern equal 50-year-old Bundesliga goal record with early strike

Bayern Munich continued their dominant Bundesliga campaign by matching the all-time single-season goal record of 101 on Saturday, thanks to an early strike from Jamal Musiala.

Musiala found the net in just the ninth minute against FC St. Pauli, heading Bayern into a 1-0 lead and bringing their season tally level with the legendary 1971/72 Bayern side.

With five matches remaining, the league leaders are widely expected to surpass the record in the coming weeks.

Bayern’s impressive form extends beyond domestic competition. They are also preparing for a crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, following a 2-1 victory in the first leg in Spain.

In addition to their Bundesliga charge, Bayern remain in contention for multiple trophies this season, having also reached the semi-finals of the German Cup.
