In a surprising statistical revelation from the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan stars Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have emerged as the slowest scorers in the tournament so far. Both players, renowned for their technical skill and consistency, adopted a cautious approach at the crease, which has reflected in their strike rates.
Mohammad Rizwan tops the list of slowest batsmen in the BBL, with a strike rate of 102.74. Despite his careful approach, Rizwan was unable to reach a half-century in the tournament, highlighting his preference for building innings steadily rather than taking aggressive risks.
Babar Azam follows closely in second place, with a strike rate of 107.48. Unlike Rizwan, Babar managed to convert his starts into two half-centuries, but his scoring pace remained relatively slow compared to the typical high-octane style of the BBL.
Australian all-rounder James Consta rounds out the top three slowest batsmen, registering a strike rate of 110.21. While these numbers may appear modest for a T20 competition known for explosive batting, experts suggest that both Rizwan and Babar’s approach reflects their intent to anchor their respective innings and provide stability in high-pressure situations.
Analysts noted that while fast scoring is often prized in T20 cricket, the contribution of anchors like Rizwan and Babar is crucial in constructing partnerships and guiding less experienced teammates through challenging phases of the match.
As the BBL progresses, it will be interesting to see whether these cautious approaches continue or if the duo adapts their strategy to match the tournament’s traditionally aggressive pace.
