BCCI’s delegation arrives in Lahore after 15 years

LAHORE: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials have arrived in Lahore for the upcoming matches of Asia Cup 2023.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, Director BCCI Yudhvir Singh and Secretary to Vice President Muhammad Akram are part of the delegation. This is BCCI’s first visit to Pakistan since 2008.
Speaking to the media at upon their arrival at the hotel, BCCI President Roger Binny said, “The matches between Pakistan and India are bigger than Ashes”. He added that the sole purpose of their visit is cricket. “Pakistanis love cricket”, he said.
PCB suggests moving Asia Cup 2023 to Pakistan
BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla said, “Pakistan is the host of the Asia Cup. It is purely a cricket visit. There is no politics involved. It is a two-day visit and the Punjab Governor has organized a dinner for us tonight”.
We will follow instructions for Pakistan–India series, BCCI VP said, adding that they will watch Asia Cup 2023 matches live in Pakistan. They are expected to watch the match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, scheduled to be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The delegation will also likely attend Pakistan’s Super Four match on Wednesday.
He said that he has longstanding relationship with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf. “The message for Pakistanis is to enjoy the matches”, he said.
Zaka Ashraf also spoke on the occasion and said, “I am deeply grateful to the Indian delegation for coming to Pakistan”, adding “It is a matter of joy for us that the Indian delegation accepted our invitation”
