GILGIT: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan to vote for his party, saying it would bring stronger development initiatives for the region. He said he has personally visited every tehsil of Gilgit-Baltistan and traveled across all parts of the region.

Addressing a large garthering of political activists here, the PPP’s chairman said he also toured Gilgit-Baltistan during the previous election campaign and had visited Skardu in the last electoral drive. He said the region holds a special place in his heart and that the PPP has stood with its people for generations.

Bilawal Bhutto said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is making efforts for peace and prayed for the success of these initiatives. He added that he had wished to campaign in the same manner in this election as well, but the current situation is marked by mourning.

Referring to global conflicts, he said the Iran crisis has led to significant loss of life and claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred. He also alleged that Zionist forces targeted a girls’ school in Iran with a bomb.

He said the Iran–US conflict is being felt across the world, adding that Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon are witnessing continued violence, while global economies are also under pressure due to ongoing wars.

Bilawal Bhutto said the PPP represents the poor and believes economic development means empowering farmers, rewarding workers, and creating job opportunities for youth.

He said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto empowered farmers by giving them land ownership, while workers were strengthened through industrial ownership. He added that such policies drive national progress.

He said Asif Ali Zardari fulfilled the vision of “roti, kapra aur makan” through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

He further said that Pakistan is the only nuclear power in the Muslim world, which deters hostile intentions. He said Pakistan’s nuclear capability was provided by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, while Benazir Bhutto advanced missile technology for the country.
