LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Tuesday introduced a modern biometric attendance system to be used during examinations, aiming to ensure transparency across the city.
A spokesperson for the BISE Lahore said that the biometric system has been implemented during the ongoing Intermediate Second Annual Examinations.
The city board spokesperson said that over 35,000 candidates were participating in the ongoing examinations, adding that under the newly introduced system, the attendance of all students will now be recorded automatically through fingerprint verification.

With this, the BISE will ensure that no individual appears in the ongoing exams on someone else’s behalf, the spokesperson added.
Warning individuals appearing in exams for others, the officials said that immediate action would be taken against any student using a fake identity.

They added that this initiative would make the examination process more transparent, organized, and secure, ensuring merit for all.
The biometric attendance system’s scope will be expanded to include upcoming matriculation examinations as well, aimed at eliminating corruption at all levels of the examination process, the board officials announced.
