PESHAWAR: At least one Frontier Corps (FC) official died, while 11 people were injured when a blast reportedly targeted a vehicle of security forces in Peshawar’s Warsak road area on Monday.
The Superintendent of Warsak Division expressed sorrow over the incident and indicated that the blast appeared to be the result of an “IED explosion.” However, the exact nature of the explosion will be determined pending a report from the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU). Officials are actively investigating the incident, he added.
The explosion occurred near the Machni Gate police station, causing injuries to eight FC personnel and three civilians. Following the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, and emergency response teams promptly transported the injured individuals to nearby medical facilities.
Initially, the injured were taken to Prime Hospital, but they are now being transferred by the Rescue 1122 team to Lady Reading Hospital for further medical treatment.
A spokesperson from Lady Reading Hospital confirmed that four of the blast victims received immediate medical attention and are fortunately in stable condition.
The SP concerned said the nature of the blast is being determined. Security forces and police cordoned off the area and launched detailed investigation.
