Blasts and gunfire reported at FC Headquarters in Saddar, Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police report that a suicide blast and gunfire were heard at the main gate of the FC Headquarters in the Saddar area of Peshawar. The explosions shattered windows of nearby buildings. A heavy police contingent has reached the site, and the nature of the blast is under investigation.

According to CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, three FC personnel were killed in the attack. He praised the bravery of police and FC commandos, noting that timely counteraction led to the killing of two attackers. A clearance operation is currently underway at the site.

IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed that prompt action by security forces foiled the attackers’ plans. Armoured police vehicles have entered the premises to secure the area.

The CCPO said the Saddar area has been closed to traffic, with vehicles being diverted to alternate routes.
