Bodies of six abducted labourers recovered in Turbat

WEB DESK: The bullet-riddled bodies of six people were recovered from Balochistan’s Turbat district on Thursday.

Police said the bodies were found in the Nasirabad area of Turbat. Local administration officials reached the site after being informed of the incident and shifted the bodies to hospital. According to police officials, victims had been shot dead, and that an investigation into the incident was under way alongside efforts to identify the bodies.

Officials said all aspects of the incident were being closely examined, and further details would be shared once the investigation was complete. No conclusive statement has so far been issued regarding a possible motive or the group responsible.

Balochistan government’s Special Assistant Babar Yousafzai said the six bodies recovered from Turbat belonged to labourers, four of whom were from Punjab and two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Yousafzai said seven labourers had been abducted by unidentified persons two days earlier from the Kalatuk area of Kech district. He said one of the labourers had been shot dead immediately after the abduction.

The incident comes weeks after three bodies were recovered elsewhere in Balochistan. One of the victims, killed in the Dasht area, was identified as Master Abid Muhammad Umar, who had been abducted by unidentified armed men. Separately, two people were shot dead in the Sarikoran area of Panjgur district.
