Bollywood stars celebrate CJP protest success after Indian education minister’s resignation

WEB DESK: Bollywood celebrities have reacted to the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, following a successful protest by India’s youth group Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in support of students.

Several prominent actors took to social media to celebrate what they described as a victory for young protesters and Generation Z.

Superstar actress Sonakshi Sinha expressed her happiness over the minister’s resignation in an Instagram video, saying that young protesters may not even realise what they had achieved.

Addressing Gen Z, Sonakshi said, “You probably don’t even realise what you have done today.” She also performed squats in the video and apologised for not taking the younger generation seriously, adding that she wished she was part of Gen Z.

Actress Alia Bhatt also shared her reaction on Instagram, writing, “Gen Z showed up, and the rest is history.”

Actor Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan, celebrated the development by posting, “Glad the voice was heard. Ho gaya bro.”

Indian media reported that Ibrahim’s phrase appeared to be inspired by Salman Khan’s remarks to activist Sonam Wangchuk when he appealed to him to end his hunger strike.

Actress Sara Ali Khan shared a simple message on her Instagram story, writing “Democracy” along with heart, Indian flag and folded hands emojis.

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi called Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation a major achievement for students, while stressing that the struggle was not over and resistance should continue.

Actor Prakash Raj congratulated the protesters, Sonam Wangchuk and others who supported the youth movement, saying the development proved that united citizens could force governments to listen to their demands.

Actress Priyanka Chopra also shared a post highlighting the student protests, stating that after 30 days of nationwide demonstrations and Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day hunger strike, Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down.

Meanwhile, actress Vaani Kapoor paid tribute to students who continued raising their voices, writing that the moment belonged to those who never gave up and kept questioning.

Other Bollywood personalities, including Tina Datta, Ayesha Kanga, Malavika Arora, Anjali Sivaraman and Shabana Akhtar, also expressed their support and shared reactions on social media.
