WEB DESK: A vacant police post in the Adhami Pul area of Domel was partially damaged in a bomb explosion on Monday night, police sources said.
The post, situated at a popular picnic spot, had been unoccupied for the past year, meaning no officers were present at the time of the blast. No casualties were reported from the incident, according to Dawn News.
Terrorists later released a video claiming responsibility for the explosion, according to local reports.
Separate attack injures policeman
In a separate incident on the same day, a policeman was seriously wounded when terrorists opened fire on a police post at an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in the Bakakhel area of Bannu.
The injured officer, identified as Fareedullah, was on duty at the camp when unidentified attackers fired on him. He was immediately rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu for treatment.
Following the shooting, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants.
Residents in the Domel area have expressed growing concern over the security situation, with reports that terrorists frequently establish unauthorised checkpoints on the main road, instilling fear and insecurity among the local population.
The incidents come amid a broader pattern of militant activity in the restive Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Authorities have not yet commented on any specific group linked to the attacks.
