Brazilian Chief of Staff visits Pakistan Naval Headquarters, discusses bilateral cooperation


ISLAMABAD: Brazilian Chief of Staff Admiral Andre Luiz Silva Lima De Santana Mendes visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Upon his arrival, Admiral Mendes was greeted by Admiral Ashraf, and a contingent of the Pakistan Navy presented a Guard of Honour. The Brazilian Chief of Staff then laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and was introduced to the Principal Staff Officers of the Naval Headquarters.

In a subsequent meeting, the two admirals discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional maritime security environment, and bilateral naval collaboration. They explored various avenues of cooperation, including training, exchange visits, and the conduct of bilateral naval exercises between their navies. Admiral Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s initiative of Regional Maritime Security Patrols aimed at ensuring maritime security and peace in the region.

Admiral Mendes acknowledged the Pakistan Navy’s efforts and commitments in support of collaborative maritime security in the region. This visit is expected to further strengthen and expand the defence ties between the two countries, enhancing cooperation between their defence forces.
