Brendan Taylor breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s 22-year ODI career record

Zimbabwe’s veteran batter Brendan Taylor has broken Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the longest ODI career after taking the field against Australia.

Taylor’s appearance against Australia extended his ODI career to 22 years and four months, surpassing Tendulkar’s career span of 22 years and three months.

The 40-year-old made his ODI debut for Zimbabwe in 2004 and has gone on to represent his country for more than two decades.

Taylor has played 207 ODIs for Zimbabwe and has scored a record 11 centuries, making him one of the country’s most experienced and successful batters.

His lengthy international career has seen him play alongside and against several generations of cricketers.

Tendulkar made his ODI debut in 1989 and ended his career in 2012 after playing 463 matches for India and scoring more than 18,000 runs.

Taylor’s latest milestone is particularly significant as he has surpassed a record held by one of the greatest batters in cricket history.

With his appearance against Australia, Taylor has now become the player with the longest ODI career in cricket history.
