Pop superstar Britney Spears has sold the rights to her entire music catalogue in a deal reportedly worth around $200 million, according to the BBC.

The 44-year-old singer is said to have completed the sale on December 30, with independent music publisher Primary Wave acquiring the catalogue. The exact terms and final price have not been publicly disclosed.

Primary Wave did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while representatives for Spears declined to comment on the reported agreement.

Spears, one of the best-selling female artists of all time, has sold more than 150 million records worldwide since her debut in 1999. Her catalogue spans nine studio albums and includes global hits such as …Baby One More TimeOops!… I Did It AgainToxic and Gimme More.

In January 2024, the singer said she would “never return to the music industry”. Her most recent release was a duet with Elton John in 2022.

Primary Wave has previously acquired rights linked to the estates of major artists including Notorious BIG, Prince and Whitney Houston. The publisher was founded two decades ago by music executive Lawrence Mestel after purchasing a stake in Kurt Cobain’s portion of the Nirvana catalogue.

The sale comes after a turbulent period in Spears’ personal life. In 2021, she ended a 13-year conservatorship that placed control of her finances and personal decisions under her father’s authority.

Spears detailed her experiences under the conservatorship in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. Her former husband Kevin Federline released his own memoir, You Thought You Knew, at the end of 2025.

The reported deal places Spears among a growing list of high-profile artists who have sold their catalogues in recent years, including Bruce Springsteen, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Shakira.

Springsteen sold his back catalogue to Sony for $500 million in 2021, while Bieber reportedly signed a $200 million agreement with Hipgnosis Songs Capital in 2023.
