Bruce Campbell has revealed a life-changing cancer diagnosis, but he is making one thing clear, he is not stopping.
The The Evil Dead star shared that his condition is “treatable, not curable”, a moment he admitted came as a shock.
But instead of stepping back, Campbell is doubling down.
At 67, the actor says the diagnosis has forced him to completely reassess his priorities, and right now, one thing matters above everything else, his film.
“It doesn’t change anything for me,” he said. “It makes you prioritise 100 percent.”
That film, Ernie & Emma, is not just another project. It is one of the most personal works of his career.
Campbell wrote, directed and stars in the film, which follows a pear salesman grappling with grief, memory and the possibility of moving forward after losing his wife.
He made it alongside his wife, Ida Gearon, describing the experience as deeply meaningful and unlike anything he has done before.
For fans who know him as Ash Williams, the chainsaw-wielding cult icon from The Evil Dead, this shift is striking.
This time, there are no demons or fantasy worlds.
Campbell wanted something real.
He said the film reflects everyday experiences, adding that modern movies often lean too heavily into fantasy while losing touch with reality.
That shift could be part of what makes this project resonate differently.
Despite his diagnosis, Campbell is not stepping away from the spotlight.
He still plans to attend screenings, meet audiences and stay actively involved as the film continues its run.
For him, seeing how people respond is just as important as making the film itself.
And even as he undergoes treatment, his mindset has not changed.
