KASUR: Two unarmed Pakistani civilians were killed and another injured in alleged firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur, according to security sources.
The sources said that three local residents from Ladhar village had moved only a few steps beyond a border pillar when BSF personnel allegedly opened fire on them without warning.
The three men were unarmed and none of them attempted to cross the border fence, the sources said.
Those killed were identified as Azmat Rasool, son of Ataullah, and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar, according to the sources. Another person was injured in the firing.
The sources described the incident as unprovoked firing and said the shooting was a violation of the border agreement and established standard operating procedures.
Indian media reports, meanwhile, described the three Pakistani civilians as infiltrators, according to the sources, who rejected the claim and said none of the men had attempted to cross the border fence.
