Bulls take charge at PSX amid renewed market confidence

KARACHI: The bulls roared back to life in today’s trading session, lifting the Pakistan Stock Exchange‘s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 Index to impressive levels.

The index surged to an intraday high of 1,684 points, before closing strong at 139,419, reflecting a solid gain of 1,202 points or 0.87%.

The rally was fuelled by positive investor sentiment and renewed market confidence, as the index moved upward ahead of the anticipated announcement of strong corporate results.

This wave of optimism helped paint a bullish picture across the board, setting the tone for a potentially upbeat week ahead, Topline Securities said.

According to analyst from Al Habib Capital Market, the recovery in the market was mainly due to the government’s decisive plan to resolve the PKR 2,800 billion gas sector circular debt, which improves liquidity, earnings visibility, and investor confidence, along with the gradual recovery in fertilizer offtake, which, despite earlier challenges from the removal of support prices, is now supporting sentiment for listed fertilizer companies.

An analyst from Pearl Securities said the benchmark KSE-100 Index extended its upward trajectory during trading session, supported by encouraging macroeconomic data and growing expectations of a more accommodative monetary policy stance in the forth-coming MPC meeting.

Broad-based buying interest was evident across key sectors, including commercial banks, cement, oil and gas exploration, OMCs, power generation, and refineries — reflecting renewed investor confidence and sustained market momentum.
