Bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims collides with tanker near Mecca; 42 dead

RIYADH: In a tragic incident in Saudi Arabia, a bus carrying over Indian Umrah pilgrims traveling from Madinah to Mecca collided with a diesel tanker, killing 42 people.
According to reports, the bus was transporting Umrah pilgrims, many of whom were from Hyderabad.
Emergency teams and local authorities carried out rescue operations, while the identities of the deceased are being verified.
A control room has been established at the secretariat to provide updates on the incident, ongoing rescue efforts, and other relevant information to the victims’ families and relatives.
Additionally, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah has set up a 24/7 helpline following the accident.
In a post on X, the consulate said that a control room has been established in response to the tragic bus accident near Madinah involving Indian Umrah pilgrims.
