By-election in NA-256 Khuzdar set for April 5: ECP

WEB DESK: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that polling for the by-election in NA-256 Khuzdar will be held on April 5 (Sunday). According to the ECP, the National Assembly seat fell vacant following the resignation of Akhtar Mengal.

The commission said a public notice for the by-election will be issued on February 18, while nomination papers can be submitted from February 20 to 24.

A list of nominated candidates will be displayed on February 25, and scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by March 4. Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed by March 9, with decisions on those appeals to be announced by March 16. A revised list of candidates will also be issued on March 16.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is March 17, and electoral symbols will be allotted to candidates on March 18, the ECP added.
