Canadian FM meets CDF Munir at GHQ, reaffirms defence cooperation

Rawalpindi: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday visited General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and held a meeting with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the ISPR, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security developments and Pakistan-Canada bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and regional stability, while stressing the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to address security challenges.

The Canadian foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts in the fight against terrorism and appreciated its role in promoting peace and stability.

The two sides reiterated their resolve to further strengthen defence and security cooperation and agreed to enhance bilateral engagement and high-level contacts between Pakistan and Canada.
