Islamabad witnesses 10% reduction in car theft incidents

ISLAMABAD: In a significant crackdown against car lifters, Capital Police Officer (CPO) Operations, Shakir Hussain Dawar, held a press conference at the Police Lines Headquarters.
Addressing the media, he shed light on the relentless efforts of the Islamabad Capital Police Anti Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) in combating car theft activities.
Dawar revealed that the AVLU team, through its dedicated operations, apprehended 125 individuals associated with 24 different notorious gangs.
A staggering 178 vehicles, valued at Rs462.5 million, were recovered from their possession.
Attributing the success to the meticulous measures taken by Islamabad Capital Police, Dawar disclosed that car theft activities in the federal capital have seen a notable 10 per cent decrease compared to the previous year.
This achievement was credited to the strategic implementation of modern surveillance techniques and seamless coordination among law enforcement agencies.
Safe City Islamabad’s advanced cameras and surveillance systems played a pivotal role in dismantling highly organized groups involved in car theft, including the infamous Bilal Sabit Gang.

Consequently, the city witnessed a substantial reduction in car snatching and theft incidents.
The operation extended beyond Islamabad, leading to the recovery of stolen vehicles across various regions, including KPK, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Multiple car theft groups were apprehended, and a variety of vehicle models were successfully recovered.
CPO Operations Dawar handed over the keys of 40 recovered vehicles to their rightful owners. The citizens expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the relentless efforts of the police teams, and commended the Islamabad Capital Police for their effective measures against car theft activities.
