WASHINGTON: The Senate Health Committee is set to conduct a hearing of the wellness influencer and author, as entrepreneur Dr Casey Means, who is willing to be the nation’s surgeon general.
The committee will mainly aim to confirm if Casey Means’s motives are aligned with Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr and his Make America Healthy Again movement today, on Wednesday, following her interest in seeking approval to be picked up as the nation’s surgeon general.
Earlier, the hearing was rescheduled from last October, after Means went into labour the day she was set to appear. Today’s appearance of the 38-year-old nominee is giving her an opportunity to share her vision for ending chronic disease by addressing its root causes, including through dietary and lifestyle changes.
During her address to the Senate, Means is likely to face tough questions from the opposition about her qualifications and potential conflicts. Her disillusionment with traditional medicine drove her to a career in which she has promoted a wide range of products. Stanford-educated physicians might also be questioned for the wealth she has hoarded, at times without disclosing how she could benefit from the career financially.
