Cavalry underpass becomes operational in Lahore: travel made easier for DHA, Gulberg residents

LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi officially inaugurated the Cavalry Ground Underpass Lahore on Sunday, underscoring the significant benefits it brings, especially to the residents of Gulberg and Defence in Lahore.

The completion and opening of Lahore’s Cavalry Ground Underpass is anticipated to significantly simplify commuting for residents of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Gulberg, as well as for visitors and individuals traveling between Gulberg and DHA.

During the ceremony, CM Naqvi highlighted the upcoming opening of the Ghora Chowk flyover on December 7, which will make the route signal-free from Gulberg Centre Point to Defence Mor Lahore.

The completion of the Cavalry underpass now facilitates the smooth passage of 200,000 vehicles daily, eliminating the need to stop at three previously encountered signals.

Naqvi commended the meticulous finishing of the Cavalry underpass Lahore, describing it as a magnificent achievement.

He emphasised the government’s focused efforts on crucial projects, including the Lahore and Rawalpindi Ring Roads and the Bund Road project, assuring the public of diligent work towards their swift completion.

The Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the dedication of DG LDA (Director General Lahore Development Authority), his team, and the contractor, highlighting their round-the-clock efforts that led to the early completion of the Cavalry underpass.

Addressing environmental concerns, Naqvi urged people to stay indoors to reduce smog and minimise unnecessary outings.

He pointed out the positive impact of environmental care, noting a recent reduction in smog levels over the last three days due to decreased traffic.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the closure of the main road during construction, Naqvi emphasised the importance of the Cavalry underpass project Lahore.

The event was attended by several provincial ministers, including Amir Mir, Azfar Ali Nasir, Ibrahim Hassan Murad, and Mansoor Qadir, as well as the Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, and other officials.

Construction work underway on Bedian Road Lahore

In a separate visit to the Bedian and Cavalry underpasses, Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi expressed indignation over the non-completion of the construction work on the Bedian road underpass side roads.

During the early morning visit, he sought an explanation for the delay in completing the side roads, with the stipulated deadline set for November 25. “Why has the work not been completed?” the Chief Minister inquired, expressing dissatisfaction over the situation.
