CDF Asim Munir conferred with Türkiye’s highest military award

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was conferred with the Distinguished Service Medal by Türkiye’s Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, during an official military ceremony in Ankara, the military’s media wing announced.

The award, which is the highest military honour of the Turkish Armed Forces, was presented during Field Marshal Munir’s official two-day visit to the Turkish capital.

On July 13, Field Marshal Munir arrived in Türkiye on a two-day official visit to hold key meetings with the country’s military and political leadership.

Recognition of defence cooperation

According to a statement, the medal was bestowed upon the army chief in recognition of his strategic efforts and military services aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation.

The citation noted his contributions toward enhancing joint military capabilities and deepening the security partnership between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye.

The ceremony was attended by senior military leadership from both countries. It followed high-level bilateral and delegation-level discussions focused on mutual defence ties, regional security, and future collaboration in military training and technology.
