Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet on Monday for Muharram moon sighting
WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will meet on Monday, June 15, to sight the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH, according to an official announcement.
The meeting will be held after Maghrib prayers at Iqbal Hall, Badshahi Mosque in Lahore and will be chaired by committee chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.

The sighting of the Muharram moon will determine the beginning of the new Islamic year and the dates of observances associated with the first month of the Islamic calendar.
Central committee to convene in Lahore
The main meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is scheduled to take place in Lahore, where religious scholars, meteorological experts and other members of the committee will review moon-sighting reports received from across the country.
The committee is expected to announce its decision following the conclusion of the meeting and verification of testimonies regarding the sighting of the crescent.
Zonal committees to hold simultaneous meetings
Alongside the central meeting, zonal Ruet-i-Hilal committees will also convene at their respective locations to collect and assess moon-sighting evidence.
The Islamabad Zonal Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will hold its meeting simultaneously at Kohsar Block in Islamabad.
Reports gathered by the zonal committees will be forwarded to the central body, which will make the final announcement regarding the commencement of Muharram 1448 AH.
