CHITRAL: A chairlift excursion along the Chitral River took an unexpected turn when the ride came to an abrupt halt, leaving three passengers stranded mid-air.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the mishap was caused by a broken rope, which immobilized the chairlift.

Local disaster management teams and skilled rescue personnel stationed in Upper Chitral immediately sprang into action to resolve the situation. A durable rope was securely fastened to stabilize the chairlift, resembling a carriage, to prevent any further movement. Under the guidance of spokesperson Bilal Faizi, the operation lasted approximately 45 minutes as rescuers diligently worked to ensure the safety of those trapped.

Through the collective efforts of the rescue team, the stranded individuals were successfully evacuated from the chairlift, putting an end to the tense ordeal. Both the victims and onlookers who had gathered at the scene breathed a sigh of relief as the rescue mission concluded triumphantly.

With plans to resume chairlift operations following a comprehensive inspection, authorities are expected to conduct an exhaustive review of safety protocols to avert similar incidents in the future. This incident underscores the importance of regular maintenance and strict adherence to safety guidelines in all recreational establishments to ensure the well-being of visitors.
