Chappell Roan has cut ties with the Wasserman Group, becoming one of several artists to distance themselves from the talent agency as scrutiny intensifies over links revealed in the latest Jeffrey Epstein-related court filings.
In a statement shared on Instagram Stories on Monday, Roan said she was no longer represented by the agency led by Casey Wasserman, citing concerns over values, accountability and leadership.
“As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman,” she wrote. “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
She added that artists deserved representation that aligned with their values and prioritised safety and dignity, saying meaningful change in the industry required accountability and trust.
Roan’s decision follows the release of a new tranche of Justice Department documents connected to convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell. The records include sexually explicit emails exchanged with Wasserman more than two decades ago and form part of the wider investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Several artists have publicly condemned Wasserman in recent days, with acts including Best Coast, Wednesday, Water From Your Eyes and Beach Bunny also distancing themselves from the agency. Wasserman removed its artist roster from its website over the weekend.
In a previous statement to The New York Times, Wasserman said he deeply regretted his correspondence with Maxwell, stressing that it took place long before her crimes became public. He said he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein and acknowledged travelling on Epstein’s plane in 2002 as part of a Clinton Foundation humanitarian delegation.
Wasserman has not been charged or accused of wrongdoing by the Justice Department.
The controversy has spilled into the political arena, with Los Angeles officials calling on Wasserman to step down as chairman of the organising committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Critics have said his continued role risks distracting from preparations for the Games.
Sources cited by Rolling Stone said tensions within the agency had been building for days, particularly after Wasserman appeared at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan as part of his Olympic duties. Senior leadership had previously sought assurances about his past associations, according to the report.
Founded by Wasserman, the agency grew into a major force across music, film, television and sport following its acquisition of Paradigm’s music clients in 2021. Industry insiders say the fallout has left its future uncertain, with artists and agents weighing whether to remain or move elsewhere.
Representatives for Roan did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Wasserman declined further comment, referring media outlets to his earlier statements.
