Check-in on the moon: plans unveiled for building lunar hotel by 2032

WEB DESK: An American space company, Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRUS), has announced plans to build the world’s first hotel on the moon, with a target opening date of 2032.

The company revealed that the hotel will initially accommodate up to four guests, offering unprecedented experiences such as walking on the lunar surface, driving lunar rovers, and even playing golf with Earth in the distance.

The structure will be constructed on Earth and transported to the moon via a space mission once all regulatory approvals are secured. Construction is expected to begin in 2029.

The initial price for a stay will be exceptionally high, with each guest required to make an advance payment equivalent to one million US dollars. GRUS said, however, that as space tourism becomes more mainstream, prices are expected to decrease in a manner similar to the early days of commercial air travel.

Experts are calling the project a landmark in space tourism, noting that it could pave the way for more accessible lunar experiences for ordinary travelers in the decades to come.

“Building a hotel on the moon is no longer science fiction,” said a GRUS spokesperson. “It’s a step toward making space an exciting, tangible destination for humans everywhere.”
