Chief Election Commissioner and CJP will be held responsible if our workers harmed: Maulana Fazal

Maulana Fazl

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that an environment of “judicial martial law” was being created in the country ahead of the general election.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that it is said that “we are running away from elections, and the Chief Election Commissioner and the chief justice will be responsible if any of our worker is harmed.

He said that there is no victimization against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and instead, the party is being brought to the fore.

Maulana Fazl stated that the common man in FATA is in distress and asking whether we are part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or FATA. FATA’s promise of Rs100 billion could not be delivered even after seven years. “Currently, there are courts in the merged tribal areas, but there is no land record; our goal will be to solve the problems of the people of FATA,” he said.

He said that we saved the country from default through 18 months of day and night hard work. Today, the threat of default looms again, he said.

Regarding the elections, the JUI chief said that why it is necessary to issue a schedule on court’s directives, and when will the election commission be independent?

He questioned, “What will happen when the situation of law and order and the weather persists like this? What will happen when the train is delayed due to the weather? We have left the decision of seat adjustment or political alliance with other parties to our district leadership.”

He further stated that along with the elections, a free environment must also be provided. Snatching the nomination papers of candidates is fundamentally wrong, he said.
