Chiefs say they are aware of allegations involving Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs have confirmed they are aware of allegations circulating on social media involving wide receiver Rashee Rice and are in contact with the National Football League.

In a brief statement released on Wednesday, the Chiefs said they would not be commenting further at this stage.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the NFL,” the team said. “We have no further comment at this time.”

The allegations were shared online by Dacoda Jones, who said she previously had a relationship with Rice and shares two children with him. In her post, Jones alleged physical abuse and the destruction of personal property during their relationship. The claims have not been independently verified, and no criminal charges have been announced.

Rice has not publicly responded to the allegations.

Context around the claims

The situation has drawn attention due to Rice’s recent history off the field. In 2025, he pleaded guilty to two felony charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash in Dallas, where authorities said he was driving at high speed before a multi-vehicle collision.

Rice received probation and served a six-game NFL suspension. During that period, the Chiefs publicly supported the receiver, with teammates and coaching staff speaking about accountability and development.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said at the time that he hoped to mentor Rice off the field, while head coach Andy Reidpraised his progress during training camp.

On-field impact

When available, Rice has been one of the Chiefs’ most productive offensive players. The former second-round pick has recorded 1,797 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns across 28 career games.

His time on the field has also been affected by injuries. Rice missed much of the 2024 season with knee and hamstring issues and was later placed on injured reserve during the current campaign after sustaining a concussion.

The NFL has not confirmed whether it has opened a formal investigation into the allegations. For now, the Chiefs’ statement marks the first official acknowledgement since the claims surfaced online.
