WEB DESK: A cold and dry spell is set to grip most parts of the country on Sunday, with meteorologists warning that northern regions will face particularly harsh weather during the morning and night.
Light smog and fog may also linger in parts of the plains, especially across Punjab, reducing visibility for early-morning and late-evening travelers, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.
Going region by region, PMD said that in the federal capital Islamabad and its surrounding areas, temperatures are expected to remain low throughout the day, maintaining the dry and crisp conditions that have settled over the region.
Punjab, meanwhile, is likely to see widespread cold and dry weather, with hill stations such as Murree and Galiyat bracing for even chillier conditions. Smog is forecast to persist over major cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur, while light fog may form in scattered areas during the cooler hours.
Sindh will experience dry weather across most districts, continuing the stable but parched pattern seen in recent days.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, residents can expect cold and dry conditions as well, though the province’s hilly areas may encounter severe cold spells in the morning and night. Light fog could appear in pockets of Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby localities.
Balochistan is also forecast to remain cold and dry, with temperatures dipping further in higher elevations.
Similar conditions are expected in both Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, where the weather will stay cold and dry throughout Sunday, accompanied by the likelihood of severe cold during nighttime and early-morning hours.
