ISLAMABAD: The Chinese embassy in Pakistan on Friday held an award ceremony to recognize the outstanding contributions of 43 Pakistani staff members working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong highlighted the significance of practical cooperation between the two countries, particularly in advancing CPEC. “We should focus on reality, trends, and prospects to strengthen our confidence in CPEC construction,” he stated.

Ambassador Jiang outlined three key factors driving the collaboration:

He noted that the continued economic recovery of both countries has created new prospects and momentum for enhanced cooperation, especially under CPEC.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of the directives and consensus from the leadership of both nations, which serve as a roadmap and instill confidence in pursuing high-quality CPEC development.

He pointed to the tangible successes achieved in CPEC projects, which provide a robust base for creating an “upgraded version” of the corridor.

Jiang expressed readiness to work with Pakistan to finalize the CPEC blueprint, ensuring high-quality development, improved security measures, and a balance between quantitative and qualitative growth. He emphasized the importance of advancing major infrastructure projects alongside smaller-scale livelihood initiatives, expanding cooperation into emerging fields, and fostering closer ties under the “Belt and Road” initiative.

“In this journey, we are committed to providing a platform for every CPEC staff member to showcase their talents and achieve their aspirations,” Jiang said.

The event also featured remarks from Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives; Chen Shuai, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC); and Zhou Bo, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan.

The ceremony underscored the collaborative spirit of the CPEC initiative, celebrating the vital role played by Pakistani professionals in building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
