Chinese national held in Gilgit-Baltistan for Rs50 million gem scam

GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan police arrested a Chinese national who was involved in a fraudulent gems deal worth Rs50 million.
According to Gilgit-Baltistan police, on January 16, 2024, a written complaint was filed at the Minapin Police Station by Hadi Ali, son of Hidayat Ali, a resident of the Ghulmet area of the Nagar district.
The complaint accused Chinese national Cen Guohua, son of Shum Hsin Kuan, a resident of China, holding passport number E87316086, of committing fraud. A case was registered under FIR No. 1/24, citing crimes under sections 406 and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case has been under investigation since then.
The accused, CEN GUOHUA, fled to China after allegedly defrauding Hadi Ali of emeralds worth approximately Rs 50 million. The gems were acquired through deceit and criminal breach of trust, causing significant financial loss to the complainant.

In response to the complaint, SP Nagar, Syed Sajjad Hussain, took necessary measures to ensure the arrest of the accused. On May 26, 2024, SHO Minapin, SI Gulzar Hussain, and his team successfully arrested the accused.
During the operation, gems worth Rs50 million were recovered from the possession of Cen Guohua. The police said the Chinese national had been transferred to judicial custody, and the investigation continues to ensure justice is served in this high-profile case.
