Chinese Vice FM inaugurates CPEC corner in Ministry of Foreign Affairs

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Vice Foreign Minister (FM) Sun Weidong visited Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Islamabad on Saturday.

Accompanied by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary (FC) Syrus Sajjad Qazi, the Chinese diplomat inaugurated a China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) ‘corner’ at a library in MOFA.

Sun Weidong said that Pakistan is China’s “iron brother and a trusted friend. We attach a special importance to Pakistan in our foreign policy”.

He remarked that China looks forward to further improving strategic ties with Pakistan. He expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s continued and unrelenting support to china regarding its core issues.

The vice FM reiterated China’s support to Pakistan regarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He stressed that china will always stand by Pakistan and help its southern neighbour in areas of economy, progress and development.

The Pakistan FC in turn thanked the Chinese vice FM. He reaffirmed strong ties of Pakistan and China, saying that China “enjoyed complete political, institutional and public support in Pakistan.”

He stressed that the friendly relations between the two countries was essential for regional peace and stability. The FC declared Pakistan’s keenness in further improving relations between the two countries in all areas of cooperation.
