ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif blasted the Afghan Taliban regime for claiming that the TTP members living in Afghanistan are actually Pakistani refugees and said it proved their malicious intent.
He was referring to the stance adopted by the Afghan Taliban during the talks with Pakistan in which Turkiye — also the host of the latest round — and Qatar are acting as mediators.
In a statement shared on X, Asif said that the Afghanistan’s delegation had claimed in Turkiye that the TTP terrorists are actually Pakistan refugees on the Afghan soil.
“What kind of refugees they are who are returning to their home while being armed with extremely devastating weapons,” he questioned.
The defence minister went on to also talk about the route and mode of transport they are choosing.
He said they are entering Pakistan “like thieves”, not boarding buses, trucks, [other] vehicles while using roads as they sneak into into the country through difficult and impassable mountainous routes.
“This interpretation is itself proof that Afghanistan’s intentions are devoid of sincerity,” the defence minister noted.
QARI AMJAD
Separately, security forces on the night between Wednesday and Thursday eliminated Qari Amjad – the deputy chief of outlawed TTP in Bajaur – a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa located along Pak-Afghan border, after he entered Pakistan from Afghanistan.

“Pakistan clarifies that it has no need whatsoever to use its full strength to dismantle the Taliban regime or force them to hide in caves. However, if the Taliban regime so desires, revisiting the scenes of their past defeat in Tora Bora, where they fled with their tails between their legs, would undoubtedly be a new and fascinating spectacle for the nations of the world.”
TTP TWISTED IDEOLOGY HAS NO ACCEPTANCE
Also on Thursday, Tribal elders from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a meeting with Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday expressed their unwavering commitment for peace in Pakistan and noted that the Fitna al-Khawarij’s twisted ideology had no acceptance among the tribes in the province.

And this unconditional support is of great significance as some elements have been trying to create confusion over the issue of military operations against terrorists, which the ISPR chief had previously described as a nexus between terrorists and criminals enjoying political support from certain circles.
