Ahsan Shah arrested in Ameer Balaj murder case

LAHORE:  The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Lahore has apprehended Ahsan Shah in connection with the murder of Ameer Balaj, the son of the late underworld figure Tipu Truckanwala.

Shah, identified as a close friend of Balaj, allegedly provided information about Balaj’s whereabouts to the rival group over the phone while he was in Saudi Arabia during the incident.  Ahsan also reportedly received Rs 5 million for the information, the charge his family denies.

The shooting occurred at a wedding ceremony in Lahore, where a gunman disguised as a guest opened fire, injuring Balaj and two others. Balaj succumbed to his injuries at Jinnah Hospital, while the others remain hospitalized.

Police have cordoned off the area and launched a thorough investigation into the Ameer Balaj murder, aiming to uncover the motive behind the attack.

 Notably, Ameer Balaj’s father, Tipu Truckanwala, was also killed in a gun attack at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in 2010.
