LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet has greenlit the “Roshan Gharana” initiative, approving the provision of solar panels to households consuming up to 500 units of electricity.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the scheme during a meeting held on Monday. Under the plan, the provincial government will cover 90 per cent of the solar panel costs, with consumers responsible for the remaining 10 per cent.

The panels will be distributed on a five-year instalment plan, adjusted for lower payments during winter months when solar energy generation decreases.
