LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a special education package for students belonging to flood-affected districts.

According to the CM, the tuition fee for one semester of all students from flood-hit districts has been waived, while admission fees for BS first-year students will also be exempted.

Students from Muzaffargarh, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Chiniot, and Kasur will benefit from the relief.

Under the package, the registration deadline for universities located in these districts has been extended by 20 days.

In addition, the deadline for applying to the “Hunarmand Scholarship” has also been extended by one month.

CM Maryam Nawaz said the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden of parents in flood-hit areas and facilitating youth in continuing their studies.

“Despite the devastation caused by floods, I will not let the education of our boys and girls suffer,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz further assured that all-out efforts were being made to ensure full support for the flood victims, along with speedy rehabilitation and compensation for losses.
