CM Sindh announces solar systems for 200,000 homes

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday announced the provision of solar systems to 200,000 homes in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony for the solar home system agreement at the Chief Minister’s House, Murad Ali Shah said that in the first phase, they will generate 400 megawatts of electricity and aim to provide affordable electricity to people.
He mentioned that all government buildings will be converted to solar systems, with 34 government buildings already converted. The Sindh Solar Energy Project is being initiated with the support of the World Bank, which is funding the project with 100 million dollars.
The Chief Minister of Sindh stated that low-income families will receive solar systems with an 80 per cent subsidy, and households registered with the Benazir Income Support Program will be included in the programme.

“The solar system will be able to power one fan and three bulbs,” he added.
