PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir underscoring the detrimental impact of illegal immigrants on Pakistan’s security and economy, emphasised that the strategic decision to repatriate them was made in the greater interest of the nation.

Speaking at a national workshop held for the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the army chief commended the collaborative efforts of the local populace in advancing stability and socio-economic development projects in the region.

Gen Munir asserted that the persistent repulsion of the enemy’s malevolent intentions is crucial for ensuring peace and stability.

Furthermore, he shed light on the paramount significance of economic development in the newly merged districts.

During his engagement, Gen Munir received briefings on the security situation, counter-terrorism measures, and the ongoing efforts in repatriating illegal migrants.

“The influx of illegal immigrants was posing a severe threat to both the security and economic stability of Pakistan and the decision of their repatriation was made in the greatest interest of the country”, the army chief said.

He reaffirmed that the illegal foreigners were being repatriated in accordance with established norms.

Expressing admiration for the brave soldiers, he lauded their courage and conveyed the nation’s pride in their exemplary performance. The Army Chief vowed that the Pakistan Army remains unwavering in its duty to safeguard every inch of the homeland, asserting that success is the inexorable destiny of Pakistan.

He resolutely affirmed that the sacred duty of protecting the homeland will persist until the last drop of blood.
