Cold, cloudy conditions to continue in Islamabad as rain, fog expected

WEB DESK: Cold and cloudy conditions are expected to prevail in Islamabad over the coming days, while rain, fog and snowfall are likely in several regions of the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Tuesday.

Rain expected in Balochistan

According to the PMD, widespread rainfall is forecast in parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin and Qila Abdullah. Other districts where rain is expected include Musa Khel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani and Lasbela.

The weather office has also predicted rain in Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Zhob, Qalat and Barkhan, as well as in Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan.

Punjab to see rain and fog

In Punjab, rain is likely in Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhang and Sheikhupura. Similar conditions are expected in Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar and Okara.

Fog may develop in parts of southern and central Punjab, particularly in Kasur, Khanewal, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, the PMD said.

Sindh outlook

Rain is forecast in several areas of Sindh, including Dadu, Benazirabad, Qambar Shahdadkot, Naushahro Feroze and Jamshoro. Meanwhile, fog is expected in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore and around the Mohenjo Daro region.

Rain and snowfall in northern areas

The PMD has predicted rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram and Mansehra. Isolated rain and snowfall are also expected in Abbottabad, Kurram, Waziristan and Bannu.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rain and snowfall are likely at a few locations.

The Met Office has advised commuters and travellers, particularly in fog- and snow-prone areas, to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slippery road conditions.
