Cold, dry weather to persist across country, dense fog likely in plains

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is set to continue across most parts of the country on Wednesday, with very cold to extremely cold conditions expected in northern regions, according to weather officials.

Moderate fog is likely to affect visibility in most plains of Punjab and several districts of upper Sindh, particularly during morning and night hours, posing potential risks for road travel.

Going region by region, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that in Islamabad, cold and dry weather is expected to prevail throughout the day, while strong winds may develop in the afternoon.

Across Punjab, most districts will experience cold and dry conditions. Hill stations including Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas are expected to remain cold. Moderate fog is forecast in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Multan, Kot Addu, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Khanewal, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected in most districts. Fog is likely to develop in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mohenjodaro and nearby areas during morning and nighttime hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience cold and dry conditions across most districts, while northern areas are expected to face severe cold. Fog may occur in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding regions during early morning and night.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather will dominate most districts, with extremely cold conditions expected in the northern parts of the province.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are forecast to experience extremely cold and dry weather on Wednesday.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautions against cold weather and reduced visibility, particularly in fog-prone areas.
