Cold, partly cloudy weather expected across most regions today

WEB DESK: Most parts of the country are expected to remain cold and partly cloudy today, according to the Meteorological Department. In its latest advisory, the department said that temperatures in the northern and hilly regions are likely to drop further, with severe cold anticipated during the morning and night hours.

Light rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where winter conditions have intensified. Meanwhile, dense smog and fog are likely to affect the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially disrupting visibility and travel.

The Met Office noted that during the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most areas of the country. The lowest temperature was recorded in Leh at minus 9 degrees Celsius. Skardu followed at minus 7, Ziarat at minus 6 and Gopis at minus 5 degrees. Temperatures in Gilgit and Quetta dropped to minus 4, while Chitral, Dir and Kalat recorded lows of minus 3 degrees.
