Cold weather persists across Pakistan, rain and snowfall forecast in some areas

WEB DESK: Cold and partly cloudy weather is expected to continue in various cities across the country, including Islamabad, while rain and snowfall are likely in some regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The PMD said that cold conditions will prevail in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, smog is expected to affect several cities, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala and Gujarat.

Fog is likely to develop in many parts of Punjab and other regions, including Jhelum, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Khanpur, Kot Addo and Bahawalpur. Foggy conditions are also expected in Sindh cities such as Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore and Larkana, as well as in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cities including Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera and Dera Ismail Khan.

The Met Office further forecast that rain, along with snowfall over mountainous areas, is likely at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Kohistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. In Azad Kashmir, the weather is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy.

Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures while traveling, particularly in fog-prone and mountainous areas.
