The chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has announced the official guidelines and minimum amounts for Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah Sawm ahead of the current year’s Ramadan conclusion.
According to the announcement, a minimum of Rs 300 per person should be paid for both Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah based on wheat.
Higher contributions have also been outlined based on other commodities, including Rs 1,100 for barley, Rs 1,600 for dates, and Rs 3,800 for raisins.
Naeemi said that Sadaqah-ul-Fitr is obligatory for all Muslims, men and women, young and old, who have the financial means. He encouraged those who can afford more to give according to higher-value items rather than limiting contributions to wheat, so that greater support can reach those in need.
The council also provided full-month fidyah estimates, ranging from Rs 9,000 (wheat) to over Rs 160,000 depending on the commodity. It added that individuals who intentionally break a fast must either fast for 60 consecutive days or feed 60 people as expiation.
The chairman further advised that people living outside Punjab should calculate their contributions based on local market prices.
