Court accepts bail plea of ex-senator Mushtaq Ahmad, 23 others

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday accepted a bail plea of Jamat-e-Islami leader and former senator Mushtaq Ahmad and 23 others against surety bonds of Rs10,000 each.

Mushtaq Ahmad and 23 other individuals were arrested after they held a a protest in Islamabad to express solidarity with Palestinians and against Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The ATC ordered the counsel for the applicants to deposit the surety bond before the registrar’s office issued the release order.

Last Friday, the protesters clashed with the capital police which resulted in the arrest of former senator Mushtaq Ahmad and other 55 individuals.

The Islamabad police on Friday had arrested 55 individuals who were latershifted to Margalla and Kohsar police stations.
