ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday summoned Kohsar Police Station House Officer in personal capacity on a petition seeking the recovery of former principal secretary Azam Khan, who went missing in Islamabad on June 15.
Azam Khan’s nephew Saeed Khan has filed a petition in the high court, making the defence and law ministries, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as respondents.
Advocate Qasim appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner Saeed Khan and contended that Azam Khan has been missing ever since he left home at around 7 pm on June 15.
Despite exhaustive efforts on various platforms, including social media and community forums, the petitioner’s family was unable to locate Azam Khan, the petitioner said. The petitioner also highlighted previous incidents involving the FIA, alleging that they had subjected Azam Khan to harassment in the past.
The circumstances surrounding Azam Khan’s disappearance raised concerns and warranted a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities, the petitioner said.
He said that the NAB had recently summoned Azam Khan as a witness in a case related to Al-Qadir Trust. The petitioner requested the court to intervene in ensuring Azam Khan’s recovery.
The court summoned the Kohsar Police Station SHO in his personal capacity and issued notices to the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Law, the NAB, Islamabad police chief and the FIA and sought replies from them.
The court was urged to order the relevant institutions to take immediate action and employ all available resources to recover Azam Khan.
