PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said on Monday that an initial probe suggested that the terrorist organisation Daesh was behind the suicide attack on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) workers’ convention in Bajaur.
At least 54 people were killed and over 150 injured when a suicide bomber set off explosives at a JUI-F’s gathering on Sunday in the Khar area of Bajaur, which borders Afghanistan.
Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP) has claimed responsibility for the attack in Khar, according to Khorasan Diary.
Islamic State’s Amaq News Agency has issued a picture of the attacker. Nashir News, the other Islamic State’s news outlet, issued a message detailing the name of the attacker, Abdullah Muhajir.

The police said they were gathering details about the suicide bomber, while the bomb disposal squad team was collecting evidence from the site.
“CTD personnel are also busy in collecting other evidence.”
DPO Khan said that three suspected people had been taken into custody.
