LAHORE: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan’s global stature as a “peacemaker” and regional “net security provider” is rising significantly following its successful mediation between the United States and Iran.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Dar emphasised that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have fundamentally altered its international standing, steering the country away from past narratives of isolation toward a central role in global conflict resolution.

He said that Pakistan successfully brought long-term adversaries — the US and Iran — to the negotiating table for direct talks for the first time in 47 years, culminating in the landmark Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Dar noted that international partners, including the United States, are now formally recognising Pakistan as a “net security provider” for the region due to its highly strategic and sincere diplomatic channels.

The deputy PM highlighted that alongside global diplomatic victories, the government of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rescued a sinking domestic economy and successfully put it back on track for daily progress.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s status as a responsible nuclear power, Dar credited civil-military synergy, praising both Prime Minister Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for securing the state against hostile actors.

Addressing the media following the 983rd annual washing (Ghusl) ceremony of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Ali bin Usman Hajveri (Data Ganj Bakhsh), Dar conveyed congratulations to the nation on behalf of the president, the prime minister, and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

“There was a time when critics claimed Pakistan was diplomatically isolated,” Dar said. “Today, the world has witnessed our unique victory in “Maarka-e-Haq”. Our name is resonating across the globe as a peacemaker.”

Dar said that Pakistan’s intense diplomatic efforts — spanning from February 28 to June 25 — succeeded in bridging the deep divide between Washington and Tehran.

The mediation led to direct, high-level technical talks in Switzerland aimed at tackling long-standing issues, including nuclear programmes, economic sanctions, and regional stability in Lebanon, he said.

According to the foreign minister, the tangible dividends of Pakistan’s mediation are already visible, pointing to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to free, fee-free maritime navigation and a subsequent stabilization of global energy prices.

Strategic Synergy and Deterrence

Dar underscored that Pakistan’s defence capabilities remain unassailable. He praised the contributions of past leaders, including former premiers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, in establishing and maintaining the country’s robust nuclear deterrent.

He issued a stern warning to external adversaries looking to undermine the country’s progress, stating that those who dreamed of isolating Islamabad now face international humiliation.

“If anyone casts an evil eye on Pakistan, we will pluck their eyes out,” Dar warned, highlighting the ultimate resolve of the country’s defence apparatus under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Reversing Economic Decline

Shifting focus to internal affairs, Dar said that past “negative economic decisions” had severely hindered Pakistan’s development, but maintained that the current government has successfully turned the tide.

“We must now focus all our energies on making Pakistan economically strong,” Dar said, asserting that PM Sharif has successfully stabilised the economy. “The country is now moving forward day by day on the path of progress.”

He urged the nation to remain united and grateful for the country’s renewed international respect and economic recovery.
