The news was shared on May 2 by the official account of Pod Meets World, the rewatch podcast hosted by Will Friedle, Rider Strong and Danielle Fishel.

“To say that David Kendall was instrumental in the creation of Boy Meets World would be an understatement,” the statement read. “He directed, wrote and executive produced our show, but also helped shape some of TV’s most memorable sitcoms.”

The hosts added that they were “devastated” by the loss, both personally and professionally, noting they had remained in touch with Kendall over the past three decades.

Kendall played a major role behind the scenes on Boy Meets World, working as a writer, director and executive producer across its run. The series premiered on ABC in 1993 and became a staple of the network’s TGIF programming block before ending in 2000.
