December 27 declared public holiday in Sindh

may 1st public holiday

KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 27 to mark the 17th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, Pakistan’s first female prime minister and the first woman to lead a Muslim-majority country.

A notification confirmed that all government and semi-government offices in Sindh will remain closed. However, banks will continue to operate as usual.

The addition of December 27 as a holiday will allow citizens to observe and remember the legacy of Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in a tragic attack on December 27, 2007.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), led by the Bhutto family, has planned a series of commemorative events nationwide to pay tribute to her contributions.

These include rallies, memorial services, and gatherings, with the main event taking place at the Bhutto family’s ancestral home in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.

The PPP’s programs will feature prayer sessions and discussions to highlight Benazir Bhutto’s leadership, vision, and sacrifices for Pakistan.
